In late November, a 12-year old boy lit a candle in the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem. In a special lantern, the light is flown to Vienna, Austria, from where the Light of Peace is spread to over thirty countries in Europe and the USA, Canada (since 2009) and parts of South America. In Zürich and five other Swiss cities, it is received simultaneously at 5 pm on the third Sunday of Advent, to be spread, candle-by-candle, to all people present.
